Hard to Leave

It's so hard to leave
as you're cryin' on my sleeve,
but it's about damn time I commit a crime
and do what's best for me.

I didn't think you'd take it hard
when I said goodbye to you,
but now that the time has come around,
It's so much worse to do.

Ever since I...

I took a walk,
ooh you took a run
and we started to have some fun.
I looked at you,
you looked at me
and you're the only thing I wanted to see.

Life is so long, baby,
or it's short as you let it be.
I've got to find my purpose here,
got a lot of things left to see.

Why are we running around,
pretending this is something new?
We have know, now, for so very long
This is what I had to do.

but now I recall...

 I took a walk,
ooh you took a run
and we started to have some fun.
I looked at you,
you looked at me
and you're the only thing I wanted to see.

I'm scared, it's true, I'll tell ya,
to be there all alone.
but I know you'll be there too,
in spirit or on the phone.

I know I'll be okay, baby.
I've done this once before.
But you have changed things, maybe.
Left me wanting for something more.

Ever since...

I took a walk,
ooh you took a run
and we started to have some fun.
I looked at you,
you looked at me
and you're the only thing I wanted to see.

Now I may have just been drinking,
or pissed when we had that kiss.
but when I'm thinking later,
It's that kiss I'm gonna miss.

I'm still so sure of my choice,
'cause it's what I've got to do...
but the adventure just isn't feeling good,
when I'm adventuring without you.

'cause I know...

I took a walk,
ooh you took a run
and we started to have some fun.
I looked at you,
you looked at me
and you're the only thing I wanted to see.

and it's so hard to leave,
as I'm crying on your sleeve.
It's a scary time, as I commit a crime,
and do what's best for me.

I Believe

We live each day
just like the last.
We look ahead
and reflect on the past.

We move, we groove,
to a reggae beat,
We hear of Jah
as we move our feet.

Did he bring you here,
just for me?
Was there a plan,
were you meant to be?

What is it we're here to do?
Who am I and who are you?
I don't know about deities,
but I believe you and I believe in me.
Faith or love or chance or fate,
I've no need to deliberate.

Ohhhh...

We're the future I want to see
because I believe in you and I believe in me.

There's strength in hope,
strength in love.
Just like strength
in faith above.

Be strong, be good,
be just, be right,
just be you,
and we'll walk in light.

You've changed my life,
changed my world.
Such a thing,
for such a girl.

What is it we're here to do?
Who am I and who are you?
I don't know about deities,
but I believe you and I believe in me.

Faith or love or chance or fate,
I've no need to deliberate.

Faith or love or chance or fate,
I can still appreciate.

We're the future I want to see
because I believe in you and I believe in me.

Lover's Blood Revisited

Vincent the Vaquero liked to speak in twisted tongues.
He'd ridden through the harshest lands, and drank his nights away,
He was solemn, he was wise, he was always on the run.
Vincent was a man that had nothing to make him stay.

He could shoot a gun as fast as light
but was never a one to pick a fight.
Vincent was a man of words,
though seldom was he heard.

Sara Roja's beauty was known throughout the land
she rode to town alone, a rarity for a gem.
She thought upon her loss, thought about her latest man.
She mostly thought about what could have been of them.

For love is fickle and love is mean.We live and die, no in-between.
The dusty roads were harsh at best
not where, but when was love's real test.
In fear of sickness, death or crime,
All they had to face was time.
But if a lover's blood is really true,it's just not hard to do.

Sara's man rode away,
Sara knew she couldn't stay
She's a lover who was now alone
and it chilled her to her bone.

Vince arrived at the bar, to quench his cowboy's thirst
He saw the red-haired Sara and fell for her at sight.
He planned to ride away with her, but settled to talk first.
Vincent rolled a cigarette and asked her for a light.

Sara Roja would oblige
as he looked her in the eyes
they played a game,
they shared their shames.
they danced and danced
and then romanced
They awoke
and Sara spoke
She had fun
but had to run
She knew she hadta get away
for the lover's price she couldn't pay.

For love is fickle and love is mean.
We live and die, no in-between.
The dusty roads were harsh at best
not where, but when was love's real test.
In fear of sickness, death or crime,
All they had to face was time.
But if a lover's blood is really true,
it's just not hard to do.

Vincent the Vaquero was one who roamed around,
but he swore he'd never leave this town, unless she shot him dead.
when Sara Roja left him he was the lowest kind of down.
A man that longed for no one, felt empty in his bed.

Sara was the one to ride
She had to find somewhere to hide
She knew she couldn't love this man,
It wasn't part of her great plan.

Roja was a wicked wreck for about a month or two.
It was hard to be alone when you're falling for a guy.
At her point of breaking she knew what she had to do,
so she saddled up and rode for him in the dark, western sky.

For love is fickle and love is mean.
We live and die, no in-between.
The dusty roads were harsh at best
not where, but when was love's real test.
In fear of sickness, death or crime,
All they had to face was time.
But if a lover's blood is really true,
it's just not hard to do.

Vincent lied, then he cried
and he felt like he could've died
but life moved on at lover's pace
and he was first to win the race.

Vincent stayed in town like he promised that he would.
The lust that had engulfed him, had vanished in the air.
He fought in many battles because he knew that he could.
No bullet could kill this man, so fighting wasn't fair.

She approached him in the bar
He was drunk, and felt the scar.
He told her he'd moved along
As he heard his mortal song.

**instrumental**

Sara Roja shot him down, so he'd finally be free again
Vincent said he loved her when he realized what he'd done
Vincent couldn't feel the burn like he'd seen in other men.
Sara cried "I've killed him" as she dropped the smoking gun.

"Bullets cannot kill me,
but my mistake I finally see."
He embraced her in a final bliss
as Vincent gave her one last kiss.

The hole in his chest swelled as Vince began to bleed.
Sara held him tight as he fell down in the mud.
The whole town whimpered at the viewing of this mortal deed.
The bullet couldn't kill him, but he drowned in lover's blood.

For love is fickle and love is mean.
We live and die, no in-between.
The dusty roads were harsh at best
not where, but when was love's real test.
In fear of sickness, death or crime,
All they had to face was time.
But if a lover's blood is really true,
it's just not hard to do.

Finally, Vincent died.
Sara Roja forever cried.
All because a lover lied.
it's true that love can never hide.

The bullet didn't kill him, but he drowned in lover's blood.
The only thing that killed Vincent was his lover's blood.

Gainesville Saturday Night

There's beer on the floor
door to door, from the long pour
natty light, crazy night
gonna raise some hell tonight
Jack black on the rack,
bring a girl, catch the flak

Gainesville Saturday night

Midtown, no frown
high-rollin, coke n' crown
Fuck Grog, salty dog,
stumble past the synagogue.
Go to fats for the cats
sluts in their habitats

Gainesville Saturday night

And we're all here cause we know it all together,
That win or lose and in all kinds of weather.
Orange and blue, and me and you,
we all know we've gotta do:
let's live it up.... like its Gainesville... Saturday...

...nightime, daytime,
'quila shots, salt and lime.
GPD, UPD,
siren's coming after me
Go to jail, make bail
mugshot's emailed.

Gainesville Saturday night

Ginnie Springs, spring flings
feelin like a bunch of kings
Swamphead, Dead heads,
Casino cruise, all on red.
Wake up, bake up,
Sundaze, shake up.

After...
Gainesville Saturday night

And we're all here cause we know it all together,
That win or lose and in all kinds of weather.
Orange and blue, and me and you,
we all know we've gotta do:
let's live it up.... like its Gainesville... Saturday... Night.

Waltz'n Round a Word

Well I picked up my phone,
cause I was fallin apart.
and you always could fix me
you just had the heart.

I was cryin last evening,
wished you were by my side,
and I asked you to dinner,
with something to hide.

As I looked in your eyes, as blue as the skies,
lost and found in a moment,
but we both couldn't show it.
I know we both spoke it, but it wasn't heard
While we were just talking,
We waltz'd round a word.

Well we were just talking.
As old friends just do.
We were laughing and crying
'bout what we've been through.

and It feels like I'm dying,
as we danced round the words
we'd be so much better,
If they could be heard

As I looked in your eyes, as blue as the skies,
lost and found in a moment,
but we both couldn't show it.
I know we both spoke it, but it wasn't heard
While we were just talking,
We waltz'd round a word.

Well it feels like we knew it,
as we said out goodbyes.
Sat down in our cars,
and let out one sigh.

and I wanted to tell you
What you already know.
and I wanted to show you
that I love you so.

As I looked in your eyes, as blue as the skies,
lost and found in a moment,
but we both couldn't show it.
I know we both spoke it, but it wasn't heard
While we were just talking,
We waltz'd round a word.

Just the Start

Hate me every second,
I spend away from you.
Hate me every moment.
That my love just don't feel true.

Know me, at my deepest,
know me, most of all.
Know me, when I'm slipping,
but know, I'll never fall.

Bless me, with your company,
bless me with your time.
Bless me with a feeling,
one that's so sublime.

I'm asking that you feel me,
to feel me with your heart.
I'm asking that you trust me,
and I'm hoping we can start

to fall in love.

Love me, while we're living.
Love me, 'till we die.
Love me, while were laughing,
and love me, when we cry.

See me, as I see you,
and see the love inside.
See what I am showing,
and see most what I hide.

Trust me, with your body,
trust me with your mind.
Trust that I will love you,
trust my love is kind.

I'm asking that you feel me,
to feel me with your heart.
I'm asking that you trust me,
and I'm hoping we can start

to fall in love.

Shadows

Though two voices speak from the same sad tongue,
the message is clear from old to young.
It's time to start, just open the door
'cause the same old thing won't do no more.

For I've traveled down the wicked way
and I've heard what the wise men have to say.
To pray for that which that cannot be,
is a sin itself and that i see.

I've traveled 'round and heard men speak
of the strength of god and the woe of weak,
but I try my best to make my name.
I seek my bounty in god's best fame.

But the uninspired will stay that way,
no matter the facts we love to say.
The shadows are all they choose to see
In the wicked way they chose to be.

Temper's Bow

So quickly we judge the bow that breaks,
but rarely so as it bends and shakes.
It strains and works as it's told to do,
but we never value the stress gone through.

It seems he's a bow that's started to crack,
he bends so far, but always comes back.
he sees the crack and resists the urge
But embracing the crack, let's the anger purge.

He's a soul, I relent, with a spirit stunted.
Everyone's haunted, sometimes they're hunted.
We see the fear but not the fight.
They're a burning candle, but we see light.

Like a broken home with a white picket fence,
or the homeless man that'd rather give two cents,
What we see, you'll see, deceives our mind,
In the end, our eyes, have always lied.

The rage will build, half-drunk, full tilt
there's a fire below but he's on a stilt.
He'll try, in earnest, to tame the soul,
but the fire lashes out from each new hole.

As you stab at the flesh that tries to contain
The holes still grow and unleash the flame.
You'll burn and suffer if the flames get out.
"I deserve none at all" you'll say with doubt.

The man will stand on the fired trail,
and then once again he'll set his sail.
He carries the burden as the string of the bow.
Yet when you draw it back, you'd never know.

Hey There, Delilah

It's a perfect day and we're sitting on the couch.
Everyone is so happy but I'm feeling like a grouch.
My friend sits in love and says it with guitar.
I have been so close, but I've never felt so far.
He plays "Hey there, Delilah" till his fingers start to bleed,
that's the kind of dedication that I feel I really need.

Three years come to pass, I don't see him anymore.
I see her from time to time, but I never know what for.
I wish she saw him play, all those years ago,
I wish she saw his love, I wish that she could know.
The beauty of the scene I couldn't see until right now.
Things had fell apart and I couldn't tell you how.

None of us were close but it filled me with despair
That they faded oh so far from 'haven't got a care'.
I pray but for a minute that he'll play guitar again.
I hope to see the love that I saw so clear back then.
Love will come and go, but I saw it in it's prime.
The love that was so pure was eroded just by time.
